Congratulations to Newly Re-Elected Grand Chief Cathy Merrick
Treaty One Territory, Manitoba – On July 24th, 2024, the Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs (AMC) held its 36th Annual General Assembly, which included elections for the roles of AMC Grand Chief and AFN Regional Chief. The election was conducted by Stephanie Connors.
For the AMC Grand Chief position, there was only one round of voting by the Manitoba Chiefs in attendance. The candidates were George Kemp, Cathy Merrick, and Darrell N. Shorting.
In the first round of voting, 54 votes were cast with the following results:
- George Kemp received 9 votes
- Cathy Merrick received 35 votes
- Darrel N. Shorting received 10 votes
